Obi Appreciates Nigerians After Incident at ADC Office in Benin

Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed gratitude to Nigerians across the world for their prayers and show of solidarity following an incident at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) office in Benin City.
In a statement, Obi said he was deeply moved by the calls, messages and goodwill he received, describing the support as encouraging at a difficult moment. He also extended his appreciation to Nigerians for standing with the family of elder statesman and former governor of Edo State, John Oyegun, as well as another former governor of the state, Oserheimen Osunbor.
According to him, the outpouring of support has strengthened his faith in the shared humanity of Nigerians and renewed his commitment to serving the nation.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s security challenges, the former Anambra State governor recalled that experiences of violence and lawlessness had earlier shaped his resolve to seek leadership in order to restore order, security and public confidence.
He warned that rising lawlessness across the country should spur citizens of goodwill to participate actively in governance, noting that withdrawal from civic responsibility only deepens national challenges.
Quoting the philosopher, Plato, Obi said good people risk living under bad leadership when they refuse to engage in public affairs.
He urged Nigerians to be resolute in electing leaders with competence, character, commitment and compassion, stressing that national interest must always come before personal ambition.
Obi concluded by calling for unity and courage, expressing optimism that a peaceful, secure and prosperous Nigeria remains achievable, declaring that “a new Nigeria is possible.”
