NSCDC arrest 5 over alleged illegal oil bunkering in Imo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Imo State Command has apprehended five suspects in connection with alleged oil bunkering in the state. 

The State Commandant of the Corps, Mr. Mathew Ovye while parading the suspects in Owerri said five vehicles used for transporting the adulterated petroleum product were also confiscated.

He said about 30,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil otherwise known as diesel were also recovered from the suspects. 

Mr. Ovye stated that the suspects were arrested on transit at Ohaji Egbema local government area of the state during an operation conducted by the Special Intelligence Squad of the corps’ Commandant-General, Ahmed Audi.

He said that the command had to a reasonable extent checked the activities of vandals in the state and vowed that the command would not rest until oil bunkering is completely eradicated.

The Commandant noted the suspects would be prosecuted after investigations and appealed to residents to always report suspected crimes to security agencies to enable them protect the lives and property.

One of the suspects, Mr Kingsley Ngwoli who hailed from Ohaji-Egbema local government area claimed that he was not aware that the automotive gas oil was from vandals.
