Man gets married virtually to wife who lives abroad

Love truly knows no boundaries — not even thousands of miles apart.
A Nigerian couple has made headlines after tying the knot virtually, with the bride joining the ceremony online due to her inability to travel back to the country.
In a video making rounds online, the groom can be seen dressed in traditional attire, seated on the groom’s chair. Beside him, rather than his bride, sat a large portrait of her.
The bride participated in the celebration via livestream, dancing joyfully as guests watched and cheered her on virtually.
Their unconventional ceremony sparked a wave of reactions online. Here’s what people are saying:
- @TemT0065: “This isn’t even new. I once saw a naming ceremony in Lagos where the baby wasn’t present.”
- @kirahdollz: “I could never do this type of wedding, no matter the circumstances.”
- @Csokonkwo: “I don’t understand how someone could miss such a major life event and blame distance. She didn’t even dress up for it 🤦♂️.”
- @Utdterrain: “For all we know, she could be getting married and still collecting wedding gifts at the same time.”
- @Onungeneeze: “Guess the Chief Bridesmaid will be standing in — because a honeymoon is a must.”
- @temitoayoo: “I attended something similar years ago. The groom wasn’t around, and the bride had to dance with a picture frame of him. It was… strange.”
