Kanu Nwankwo Reacts to Peter Rufai Death, Mourns Diogo Jota’s Tragic Passing

Legendary Nigerian footballer, Kanu Nwankwo reacts to Peter Rufai death, describing the heartbreaking news as a dark day for African and global football. Kanu, a former Arsenal and Inter Milan star, shared his grief on social media after learning about the passing of former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, and Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota.
According to reports, Rufai died on Thursday following a prolonged illness, while Diogo Jota tragically lost his life alongside his brother Andre in a fatal car accident in Spain.
Reacting to the sad events, Kanu Nwankwo reacts to Peter Rufai death in a heartfelt message posted via his official X account (formerly Twitter). He described Rufai as an African legend whose legacy will continue to inspire generations of footballers.
“A dark day in football today. We lost an African Legend, Peter Rufai. May his soul rest well, Amen,” Kanu wrote.
In a separate tribute, Kanu also expressed his sorrow over Jota’s sudden passing:
“Sad sad sad RIP Diogo Jota.”
The Arsenal legend added that it was difficult to share the news but prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved families. As he reacts to Peter Rufai death, many fans and former teammates have also joined in honoring the memories of these football icons whose contributions to the sport will never be forgotten.
