Youths from Ikwo have announced plans to pass a vote of confidence on Chief Christian Asaga Nwali as part of growing support for his anticipated bid for the Ebonyi Central Senatorial seat in 2027.
The endorsement is expected to take place during an emergency meeting scheduled for Saturday at Nwanoyo Stadium by 10:00 a.m., where youths across the local government area and beyond are expected to converge.
Organisers of the meeting, under the banner of Ikwo Youths for Good Governance, said the move is aimed at recognizing Nwali’s contributions to youth empowerment, economic growth, and community development, while also positioning him as a preferred candidate for the Ebonyi Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They noted that the gathering would provide a platform for youths to collectively align on leadership choices that reflect their aspirations, stressing that the decision to support Nwali is driven by his track record and perceived capacity to represent the interests of the people effectively at the national level.
The meeting, according to the organisers, remains apolitical in nature and is not intended as a protest, but rather as a forum for dialogue and consensus-building on the future of Ikwo youths and the broader Ebonyi Central constituency.
Free transportation has been arranged for participants traveling from Abakaliki, while adequate security measures are expected to be in place to ensure a peaceful and orderly gathering.
The planned vote of confidence is seen as an early signal of grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections, with stakeholders expressing optimism that youth-driven support could play a decisive role in shaping the political landscape of Ebonyi Central.
