A non-governmental organisation, C-SAGAS Charity Foundation, has condemned the killing of a traditional ruler in Ebonyi State, HRH Eze Francis Igwe, who was reportedly abducted on March 1, 2026 and later murdered by his captors.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Ebonyi State Coordinator of the foundation, Dr. Obisi Nweke, the organisation described the incident as shocking and heartbreaking, noting that it highlights the growing threat of kidnapping and violent crimes in the country.
According to the statement, the late monarch was not only a respected traditional ruler but also a community leader and custodian of culture whose death represents a significant loss to his family, subjects and the wider society.
The foundation condemned the act, describing it as “heinous, senseless and inhumane,” and warned that no society can thrive where violence and criminality are allowed to flourish unchecked, particularly when community leaders are targeted.
While commending operatives of the Ebonyi State Police Command for their swift response and arrests in connection with the case, the foundation called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Ebonyi State Government and other relevant security agencies to ensure that all those involved in the crime are brought to justice.
“Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done,” the statement added, stressing that prosecuting those responsible would serve as a deterrent to others.
The organisation also called for stronger collaboration between government authorities, security agencies, community leaders and citizens to tackle insecurity and prevent similar incidents.
As a mark of respect for the late monarch, the C-SAGAS Charity Foundation announced the suspension of all its official activities for seven days in honour of the deceased.
The foundation also extended its condolences to the family of the late Eze Francis Igwe, the royal household and the entire Ikwo Noyo clan over the loss.
