
The Ebonyi State Government has constituted a 19-member committee to carry out the demarcation of the disputed boundary between Okporojo and Amasiri communities in Afikpo Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru announced the decision on Thursday shortly after an expanded Security Council meeting held at the Old Government House, Abakaliki.
According to the governor, the demarcation became necessary following an agreement reached by the two communities to allow the state government formally determine the boundary between them.
The committee is chaired by the State Commissioner for Border and Conflict Resolution, Prof. Paul Nwobashi. Other members include the Surveyor-General of the State, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, the Commissioner for Primary and Secondary Education, Chairmen of the Traditional Rulers’ Councils in the thirteen local government areas, and Dr. Boniface Chima, while Chief Sunday Oyibe will serve as the Secretary.
