The wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru, has officially launched the Queen May Yul-Edochie Products and Exhibition at the Abakaliki Township Stadium on March 29, 2026.

Speaking at the event, the First Lady described the gathering as more than a product unveiling, noting that it symbolizes vision, courage, and the determination to rise above limitations. She emphasized that the occasion highlights how great achievements often begin with simple ideas nurtured through passion and resilience.

The founder of the Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation (BERWO) stated that the exhibition represents a movement for empowerment and a platform for opportunity. According to her, it provides entrepreneurs and business owners with avenues to showcase their products, connect with customers, and expand their reach, reflecting the creativity and industrious spirit of Ebonyi people.

Mrs. Nwifuru further disclosed that the event also features the QM Beauty/BERWO Empowerment Scheme, aimed at building capacity among young people. She explained that 13 individuals—one from each local government area of the state—will undergo three months of intensive professional makeup training. Beneficiaries will also receive certificates and support to establish their businesses.

“This programme is not just about training; it is about building careers, mastering a craft, and equipping our youths with globally relevant skills,” she said, adding that participants will also learn branding, digital marketing, and business management.

She noted that such initiatives are key to building a stronger Ebonyi State through investment in human capital, talent development, and enterprise growth. The First Lady also commended her husband, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his continued support and commitment to people-oriented programmes.

Calling on Ebonyi indigenes at home and in the diaspora, she urged them to return and invest in the state, stressing that the environment is becoming increasingly conducive for innovation and economic growth.

In her remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Adeline Idike, praised May Yul Edochie for her global impact and commitment to promoting Ebonyi on the world stage. She described the entrepreneur as a woman of distinction whose achievements have elevated the state’s image internationally.

Prof. Idike added that the initiative, if sustained, would extend beyond Ebonyi State and the Southeast, positioning the state as a hub of talent and innovation.

The event attracted several dignitaries, including the Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, Mrs. Ani Aligwe; the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mrs. Nkechinyere Iyioku; and the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mrs. Chinwe Okah, among others.
