
No fewer than 1,000 corps members in Ikeja 1 Local Government Area of Lagos State participated in the maiden edition of the Corper Impact Initiative (1.0), themed “Project 1,000: The Future is Here.”
The programme, organised by the ICT Community Development Service (CDS) group under the supervision of the Local Government Inspector, Mrs. Ojimi Abosede, focused on promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and the application of practical skills acquired during the service year.
Speaking at the event, the Lagos State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, commended the corps members for their initiative and creativity. Represented by the Head of CDS, Mrs. Odihenkandu Chioma, she urged participants to take advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to build sustainable businesses and become self-reliant.
In a keynote address, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Environmental Protection Matters, Mrs. Tolu Adebowale, encouraged corps members to channel their creativity into developing innovative and environmentally sustainable solutions.
Highlight of the event was a Pitch-a-thon competition sponsored by FC Ebedei, where Ibaleye Doris Seun emerged winner, clinching a cash prize of ₦100,000. Omotayo Precious Omolola came second with ₦70,000, while Osadolor Eloghosa Possible placed third, winning ₦50,000.
The event also featured the launch of a book authored by a corps member, Habeeb Lekan Sodiq.
Organisers said the initiative was designed to inspire corps members to embrace innovation and entrepreneurship as tools for community development and economic growth.
