A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday morning discharged and acquitted former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, of all charges in his long-running money laundering case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court upheld Fayose’s no-case submission, ruling that the EFCC failed to establish a prima facie case against him that would require a defence.
Fayose had been on trial for several years over allegations of money laundering and fraud allegedly committed during his tenure as governor.
However, the court found the prosecution’s evidence insufficient to proceed with the case, bringing the legal battle to an end.
