Ahead Nationwide Protest, Police Detonate IED in Lagos

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully foiled an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Lagos, thanks to the expertise of its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit.
According to a press release by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, the IED was discovered and detonated on July 31, 2024, along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos.
“The intentions of the criminally minded individuals, who acted like terrorists for planting the IEDs at that strategic location, were purely to destroy houses, facilities and innocent citizens who may transverse along the route where the items were recovered,” the release stated.
The NPF has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities or objects to the nearest police station. “Do not touch or move unfamiliar objects; instead, keep a safe distance and inform the police,” the release advised.
The police are investigating the source of the IED and working to dismantle plans and apprehend those involved. Public cooperation is vital in these critical times.
