92 Ebonyi Scholarship Beneficiaries Leave for UK Postgraduate Studies

The Ebonyi State Government has dispatched 92 beneficiaries of its overseas scholarship scheme to the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies, in continuation of its human capital development programme.
The beneficiaries departed on Monday from the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Ezza, during a ceremony attended by top government officials. The exercise forms part of the human capital component of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s People’s Charter of Needs Agenda.
Addressing the scholars, Governor Nwifuru urged them to demonstrate discipline, academic excellence and good conduct, reminding them that the scholarship was funded through the collective resources of the people of the state.
He said the administration has sustained a governance approach that blends infrastructure development with investment in human capacity, noting that 285 Ebonyi indigenes were sponsored for overseas studies last year, with many already completing their master’s degrees.
According to the governor, the beneficiaries are expected to return and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state, particularly in strengthening institutions, growing the economy and enhancing competitiveness in a rapidly changing global environment.
The Chairman of the Ebonyi State Scholarship Board, Chief Chaka Nweze, described the scholarship programme as a long-term investment in the future of the state and commended Governor Nwifuru for prioritising education.
He encouraged the scholars to maximise the opportunity and serve as responsible citizens and worthy ambassadors of Ebonyi State.
The overseas scholarship scheme is a key aspect of the state government’s strategy to build a skilled workforce capable of driving sustainable development.
