Peter Obi Agrees To One-Term Presidency In Proposed Coalition Deal

Labour Party’s Rising Tide: Can Peter Obi Break the Political Establishment?

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has confirmed his willingness to serve only one term in office if a proposed political coalition succeeds in producing him as president in 2027.

Speaking during a live Space session on X (formerly Twitter) titled #PeterObiOnParallelFacts, Obi said he would honor the coalition’s offer to hand over power to the North in 2031.

“If the agreement is one term, I will leave on May 28, 2031 — not even May 29,” he declared. “I am not desperate to be president. I am desperate to see Nigeria work.”

The interactive session drew over 10,000 live listeners and nearly 3,000 comments from the audience.

Obi emphasized that adhering to zoning arrangements and honoring coalition agreements are marks of political maturity and national unity.
