The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos State has commenced the 2026 Job Awareness Counselling (JAC) programme for 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Corps members across the state.

The exercise, hosted jointly by Ojo and Badagry Local Government Areas, is part of activities lined up ahead of the Corps members’ passing-out on March 31, 2026. It marks the final phase of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, aimed at preparing Corps members for life after service.

Speaking at the flag-off, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, urged Corps members to maintain good conduct, uphold the values of the scheme, and make effective use of the skills and relationships acquired during their service year.

The Head of SAED, Mrs. Itohan Ehimwenma, highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship, self-reliance, and continuous skills development as key to success in today’s economy.

In her welcome address, the Ojo Local Government Inspector, Mrs. Faith Adeyemi, noted that the programme plays a crucial role in preparing Corps members for future opportunities. SAED Schedule Officer, Mrs. Ojewale Yewande, also guided participants on available support platforms, including the Bank of Industry and the NYSC Job Portal.

Resource persons from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, IPED Nigeria, and the National Directorate of Employment provided practical insights on job opportunities, career growth, soft skills, and CV writing.

Corps members who shared their experiences said the SAED programme had empowered them to earn income during service, expressing readiness to become self-reliant and contribute positively to society after their exit from the scheme.
