Stakeholders and concerned citizens from Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have made a passionate appeal to the people of Ishielu, Ezza North, and Ezza South LGAs to support the emergence of an Ikwo candidate for the Ebonyi Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
In an open letter addressed to residents and political leaders across the zone, the group emphasized the need for equity, fairness, and unity in the rotation of the senatorial position among the four constituent local government areas—Ikwo, Ishielu, Ezza North, and Ezza South.

The stakeholders noted that since the return of democratic governance in 1999, Ishielu, Ezza North, and Ezza South have all produced senators who represented the zone at different times, while Ikwo has yet to occupy the position.
They highlighted that past senators from the zone include Obinna Ogba (Ishielu), Julius Ali Ucha and Paulinus Igwe Nwagu (Ezza North), as well as Vincent Obasi Usulor and Ken Eze (Ezza South). According to them, this history reinforces the argument that it is now Ikwo’s turn to produce the next senator in the spirit of rotational representation.
The group stressed that Ikwo people have consistently supported candidates from other LGAs in previous elections without resentment, describing their position as one rooted in justice rather than entitlement.
“As a zone bound by shared destiny, equity demands that Ikwo be given the opportunity to represent Ebonyi Central in the Senate come 2027,” the statement read.
The stakeholders also formally endorsed Christian Asaga Nwali as their preferred candidate for the senatorial race. They described him as a seasoned professional, accomplished architect, and entrepreneur with the competence, experience, and grassroots connection required to deliver effective representation.
They further commended the people of Ezza South for what they described as a “rare demonstration of democratic solidarity,” noting their support for Ikwo in producing a House of Representatives member in the last two election cycles.
The group pledged continued partnership and reciprocity, assuring that Ikwo would stand by Ezza South and other sister LGAs in future political arrangements.
Calling for unity across the zone, the stakeholders urged political leaders, youths, and residents of Ishielu, Ezza North, and Ezza South to rally behind their demand, insisting that supporting an Ikwo candidate would strengthen cohesion and reinforce trust among the constituent communities.
They concluded by urging the electorate to support Nwali’s candidacy, expressing confidence that his emergence would mark a new chapter of inclusive governance and balanced representation in Ebonyi Central.
