Tinubu Reinstates Salihu Dembos As NTA DG, Cancels Rotimi Pedro’s Appointment

President Bola Tinubu has reinstated Salihu Dembos as Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), reversing last month’s appointment of media entrepreneur Rotimi Pedro.
In a statement on Tuesday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced that Dembos would resume his position to complete the three-year tenure he began in October 2023.
The President also ordered the return of Ayo Adewuyi as Executive Director of News to serve out his term, which is scheduled to end in 2027. Adewuyi was first appointed in 2024.
This decision overturns the management changes announced in August, when Pedro — a veteran broadcaster and sports media consultant — was named NTA’s DG. The earlier reshuffle had also introduced Karimah Bello as Executive Director of Marketing, Stella Din as Executive Director of News, and Sophia Mohammed as Managing Director of NTA Enterprises Limited.
All those appointments have now been set aside under the new directive.
