Tinubu Departs Abuja for Condolence Visit to Kano

President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja for Kano on a condolence visit to the family of the late elder statesman and industrialist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.
The President left the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Friday afternoon, accompanied by top government officials and aides. His visit is in honour of the late business magnate, who died in Abu Dhabi on June 28, 2025, and was buried in Madina, Saudi Arabia, on July 1.
Although Tinubu was outside the country during the burial, he had sent a ministerial delegation to represent him. Today’s visit, however, marks a personal tribute to a man widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential philanthropists and financiers.
On arrival in Kano, the President is expected to visit the Dantata family compound in the Koki area of the city, where he will offer prayers and condolences. He is also scheduled to meet with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders.
In a statement issued earlier, Governor Yusuf urged Kano residents to welcome the President peacefully and respectfully, noting the state’s long-standing reputation for hospitality.
Security has been heightened in key areas of the state capital, with traffic restrictions around strategic points.
