Lagos Taskforce Raids Obalende, Arrests 22 Suspects

The Lagos State Taskforce has carried out a major operation in Obalende, leading to the arrest of 22 individuals suspected of criminal activities. This follows numerous complaints from residents about hoodlums and miscreants who harass and attack innocent citizens.
The operation was also prompted by appeals from the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), which raised concerns over criminal elementsturning the TBS Bus Terminal into a hideout for illegal activities.
Acting on these concerns, operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce, led by Chairman CSP Adetayo Akerele, raided the location on Saturday night and apprehended 22 suspected criminals found in possession of harmful weapons and hard drugs. These individuals had allegedly been using the terminal as a base to attack commuters and residents.
CSP Akerele reaffirmed the government’s commitment to public safety, warning that those engaging in criminal activities will not go unpunished. “I will ensure that other vulnerable BRT terminals across the State are routinely visited to prevent miscreants launching attacks on innocent Lagosians from there,” he stated.
He also assured both LAMATA management and residents that routine patrols and surveillance would be intensified in the area to prevent a recurrence of past incidents.
The Lagos State Taskforce remains steadfast in its mission to eliminate crime and protect public spaces. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities through the agency’s feedback channels to help maintain security across the state.
