Bandits Overrun Mobile Police Post in Kebbi, Seize Weapons and Torch Patrol Vehicle

The Kebbi State Government has confirmed an attack by armed bandits on a temporary mobile police post in Makuku village, Sakaba Local Government Area.

Speaking at a press briefing in Bagudo on Saturday, the Director of Security at the Cabinet Office, Abdulrahman Zagga, said the heavily armed assailants overran the post, which was manned by visiting mobile police officers. The attackers reportedly carted away an unspecified number of rifles and set a Toyota Hilux patrol vehicle on fire.

Zagga clarified that the facility was not a permanent police station but a temporary outpost. He added that no casualties were recorded in the incident.

Sources indicate the attackers were moving a large herd of cattle believed to have been stolen from Niger State and were heading toward Zamfara.

In response, the state government requested air support from the Nigerian Air Force, which conducted operations that helped disperse the bandits.

Zagga emphasized that Kebbi State has no peace accord with any bandit group, noting that informants continue to undermine security operations. He also observed that such attacks typically escalate during the rainy season as bandits target farming communities for extortion.
