The Lagos State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, has emphasised discipline and teamwork as essential for the success of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course.
She gave the charge during the maiden meeting of camp officials held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, ahead of the commencement of the exercise.
Salmwang highlighted the need for collaboration, tolerance, and synergy among officials, noting that effective teamwork across committees and partnering agencies is key to achieving the objectives of the orientation course.
She also stressed discipline as a core requirement, urging officials to lead by example through strict adherence to camp rules and regulations. She cautioned against physical contact and corporal punishment of prospective corps members, calling for full compliance with the orientation course code of conduct.
On security, the State Coordinator called for vigilance, describing the safety of the camp as a collective responsibility that should not be left solely to security personnel.
She further encouraged officials to participate actively in camp lectures to improve their knowledge and advised them to prioritise their health by making use of the camp clinic and maintaining healthy lifestyles.
In her remarks, Camp Director Mrs. Beatrice Fayinto welcomed officials and collaborating agencies, appealing for cooperation and unity. She emphasised mutual respect and proper reception of prospective corps members at service points, while reiterating the importance of taking security matters seriously. She also announced the camp slogan as “Diligence: Pathway to Excel.”
Also speaking, Camp Commandant Major A.J. Ibrahim assured of his readiness to provide the necessary leadership for a smooth orientation exercise, while Camp Resident Officer Mr. Ayoola Bayo Bright urged officials to build on the successes recorded in previous exercises.
